A love of horses soothes, teaches, and bonds.
When Marcia King was paired as Naszim’s DSP,
it was her first experience working with IMPACT, although she had worked as a home healthcare provider in the past. Marcia was not only excited to work as a Direct Support Professional, but also to share her small ranch, and the beautiful horses she keeps there, with Naszim.
“I work with Naszim Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays,” she explains, “and we usually do schoolwork til about 1:45. Then - the fun starts.”
The horses aren’t just an entertaining distraction for Naszim. He’s learning the satisfaction, and responsibility, of caring for for others.
“Naszim has grown so much in the last six months,” she says. “We treat him as a member of our family, and I have to say, he’s become like one of my grandchildren. I love the time we get to spend together, and genuinely look forward to the days he’s here.”
The fact that Marcia gets paid by IMPACT to work from home with Naszim is just icing on the cake, and appreciates the 100% support Trevor and Gina show her every day. She thinks anyone looking for a rewarding full or part-time career should call IMPACT.
